Terrific running shoes

Saucony Progrid Guide Running Yellow

Saucony Progrid Guide Running Yellow

I've owned a lot of athletic shoes over the years. I've been working out and running for about 20 years. I've had the best from Asics and New Balance... even Brooks. Asics 2100 series have always been my fallback(I've owned two pairs of Kayanos too be they just never felt better to me even though it was more expensive). I was happy with the high end New Balance runners I've owned as well. I always have different pairs of sneakers for running and other workouts(everyone should, as running shoes are designed for forward motion only and are not laterally stable). I put these on and went to the gym. I was working upper body(so lateral stability wasn't an issue) then jumped on the treadmill for a bit. These were super comfortable and very stable right away. I think they impressed me more on first wearing than any other sneaker I've owned. Enough so that when my training shoes wear out I'll look into Sauconys again.

  1. I purchased these to train for and run in my first half marathon this spring. The fit is quite nice and they feel like clouds, especially after an hour and a half on the treadmill. Nicely made shoe.

  2. Since I started running more seriously, I like checking runners websites for shoe recommendations. Every year it seems Brooks and Saucony at the top of most of the lists. I tend to rotate between Brooks Adrenaline and a Saucony models yearly.

I purchased this model because it was ranked "Best Road Running Shoe" by Men's Health. Though I haven't used them outside, due to the season, I have been very pleased with the feel of the shoes during my indoor workouts. Also, the price on Amazon for this shoe is unbeatable. But ultimately your shoe decision should be based on your foot curve, body type, and what you expect out of your shoe. For me, this shoe works great.

  3. I bought my first pair of these shoes for $120 at a mom/pop running shoe store. Great service and fitting and this was the shoe for me after trying on 5 or 6 different pairs. It was the shoe that felt the most like there was nothing on my feet. They are now half the price on Amazon and I bought a couple of pairs figuring they could be discontinued anytime now. But my feet aren't your feet so there is telling how they fit you. I'd go try them at a shoe store and get what fits your foot. Shoes that feel good on your feet are pretty damn important.

  4. Great product, as always. I have had the Guide for the last three versions and every pair has a perfect fit and feel.
True to size, with room in the toe box, and the perfect amount of support.
To me, when you're running, you shouldn't have to think about your shoes, and I never do with Saucony - they just feel right. I haven't been living in a cave, so I'm completely aware of the minimalist push, and I do believe in reduced drop and natural running form, so I have the Kinvaras and others, but on most days, these are the perfect shoe for the runner who over-pronates a little, needs that extra support, or just wants to run and not think about it.

  6. These shoes are wonderful for running and are very comfortable. I'm a distance runner myself, and these shoes have been flawless since I bought these a few weeks ago at my local Fleet Feet. It took about a few days of walking to break in the shoes. I have not had much of an issue when using these shoes for speed work as well. So far, I have walked and ran about 45 miles with these dandy looking shoes. Overall, these shoes have been the best pair I have ever owned!

  7. I run three times a week, totalling just over 25 miles, and am 65 years old, having run for 40 years.

I've loved running in my New Balance Minimus -- the barefoot style running shoe. But when an irksome Achilles Tendinitis case just wouldn't go away. I decided I needed a bit of cushioning.

So, I read about these new Saucony's in Runners World -- which rated them an Editor's Pick -- and took a chance on 'em. Great look, great fit, stable in the ankles, extremely light (e.g. even down to a nice, short tongue) , nice cushion, and -- most important for me -- a relatively short drop from ball to heel, only 8MM. Makes running on your forefeet much easier. And, after a month, my Achilles tendinitis is finally starting to recede. (I credit the shoes and, strangely, a homeopathic cream also noted in Runner's World, Topricin, which one can also find on Amazon. I have absolutely no faith in homeopathy, but this stuff seems to work.)

The shoes ran "hot" the first time. Since then, though, they've been just fine. And now are easily the best, most comfortable running shoes I've ever used. If you can get 'em at the $89 price I got, they're about the best running buy you could ever make.

  8. Bought these for my husband, he is wearing them for a half marathon and he thinks they might be the most comfortable shoe he's ever owned! And the price on amazon was the best we could find... Very happy with our purchase!
