Great shoe, just try them on first!

Vibram FiveFingers Spyridon LS Military

Vibram FiveFingers Spyridon LS Military

I had been using the Vibram Five Finger Bikala LS's for over a year and a half, and while I liked them, they really were uncomfortable to run on the road for a long time, or if I landed on a rock. I decided to try these and am glad that I did. The extra tread on the bottom may not seem like much, but it really does help dampen the landings, making running a little more enjoyable. At first, these were really tight and difficult to put on, but they have now worn in and are about as easy as the Bikalas. In the month I have had them, I have put close to 55 miles on them with no problems. Don't get me wrong, hitting a bigger rock the wrong way will definitely be noticeable, but not near as bad as I was experiencing. The sizing on these is about the same as the Bikalas as well. If you are on the fence, I would say go for it. I am happy that I did.

  1. These shoes are absolutely awesome. Insanely light (I have socks heavier than these!) but yet still protective of your feet where it matters most. I wear these every day at the gym and love them. Tip: make certain you get the right size, it is absolutely essential they fit perfectly or else you will be miserable. Their website has a sizing guide.

  3. From the minute you slide these shoes on it is sheer bliss. I had purchased the classic style of Vibram Five Fingers for women and loved the feel. Somehow these are even more amazing! I have never felt like I have had such strong support from such a light weight shoe. I will probably never run, walk, lift, etc... with regular tennis shoes again. Your foot does not slide forward while holding difficult positions, lack the right amount of arch,etc... Also, these shoes are constructed of such high quality products that you can't go wrong. This is not the first pair I have bought nor will they be the last! Treat your feet to greatness!

  4. I own a number of barefoot shoes and each one is better than another for one specific thing.

The KomodoSport is my favorite for running on pavement. the tread on the bottom is circular which makes it best for pivoting and sprinting, but it is NOT the best for traction on something slick like a wet rock. I have slipped in these on a slick grocery store floor. I like them best though for fit because they are stretchier than the bikila and the trek but they don't loose their elasticity.

They're very similar to the KSOs i think however the KSOs are SOOOO hard to get over my arches. It's a good alternative if you've had this problem too.

They don't dry very quickly and sand can get in them pretty easily but they clean off well in the washing machine.

I wear mine for an hour run every day and often during the entire day for work/errands, they are still very bright and colorful.

Caution, they will smell. Try stuffing newspaper in them to help them dry out quicker so they don't smell like mildew.
I use the sports balls for your shoes and it works perfectly against odor.

If you are looking for something easy to slip on, try the classic, don't buy this shoe.
If you are looking for a VFF for trail running or for slicker surfaces, running on ice during the winter: get the trek.
If you want something low profile which people won't notice, go for Merrell gloves - I prefer VFF to Merrell because Merrell has always given me blisters when I run.

  5. Excellent shoes. Very comfortable for walking and everyday activities. These shoes should come with a warning sign that everyone you run into will ask a ton of questions and you will become their spokesperson. Luckily for Vibram, this is an outstanding product.

Runners be Warned: Be very very careful transitioning into this shoe if you aren't accustomed to running barefoot. Your calves will get quite sore from regular use and the change of biomechanics. Everyone will need to go at a different pace. Error on the cautious side or you may get injured.

  6. I've had these for about a week now. My first pair of vibrams were too small, but these fit absolutely perfect. I tried on other pairs of vibrams, some denser, some light, but this was the absolute best fitting and most comfortable shoe. I'm used to running barefoot 100% and these come closest. I've used these for running on pavement and I've also done a tiny bit of hiking on the rocky colorado river with them. They can get wet and dry up in no time. Really my favorite shoe. You will feel the ground very well, but if you are a tall or heavy person, maybe these won't be the best for hiking or outdoorsy stuff, because I'm only 5'4" and 125 lbs, so walking on rocks and jagged things isn't a real problem for me. The shoe also looks very nice and doesn't grab as much attention as other pairs of shoes(I have the blue and grey). They look good, feel good, are good, and are amazingly comfortable and do not feel restricting on your feet at all. Good for bare foot lovers, and those who like the beach and water.
