Great shoes but not for running.

Vibram FiveFingers Speed Running Shoes

Vibram FiveFingers Speed Running Shoes

I've had my eye on Vibrams for over a year. I tried them on in the stores and found that my foot was too wide to fit in any of the women's styles because the shoes had no tongues. Welp...saw these and knew they would be perfect and they are my favorite shoes now. Folks love looking at my vibrantly blue Vibrams and have tons of questions. These are like going barefoot in strong socks. I run comfortably on gravel and concrete. My feet have lots of room to breathe while still being snugly contained by the shoe. Easy to wash, color doesn't bleed onto the white parts of the shoe or my laundry, dry quickly (in just a few hours sitting on top of the washing machine) and look great with jeans and activewear. I normally take off my shoes when entering the house...but with these - I forget I'm wearing any! While they do take a little getting used to (don't go dancing in them all night the first day you wear them), the adjustment wasn't as bad as I expected. I'm hooked!

  1. I am having a really hard time targeting my lower back right above my butt and on the side of my hips-- stereotypical "muffin top." I do cardio everyday, do various types of ab workouts and free weights but I cannot for the life of me lose the last of this little baby chub! Its driving me crazy! What are some tips to getting rid of this?? Any type of exercise...doesn't need to be crutches or free weights. I am willing to try whatever!

  2. i was cleared to run on monday by my doctor but i need an ankle brace to run now cause i had weak muscles. soo i ran tuesday and the day after it was insanely sore and weak, but no pain which is good. then i ran thursday and it was less sore and weak. but i went to my formal dance yesterday and it is insanley sore and weak today. like just sitting it feels really weak. i iced it and everything, but it still feels sore. the areas where it feels weak are mainly the area by the pinky toe, and just basically from the area of my fibula sfx and down. is this bad???? did i re break it?? i can walk without pain and when i touch it, it doesnt hurt, unless you like press on it insanely hard. i jummped on it and it didnt hurt either...is it a sfx again or just weak and sore muscles???

  3. So, I've worn out my old shoes, and I'm tired of just letting my mom buy my new ones. (It's not like I wear them casually) Anyway, I've noticed my friend's Pumas (Speed Cats?) appear like they conform well to their feet and they look like they would feel less like shoes in that they look like the soles would bend easier (sort of like Converse). See, I hate wearing shoes. I feel like they slow me down and like I have more traction, control and speed when I run barefoot. I want a shoe that gives me all the protection of a shoe, without hindering my running. Nike Airs are out, since those were my last shoes, and I don't like Shox. I looked at the Nike Free V4s, and I think they look promising. I don't care much for the look of Pumas, but I'm open to them. Any suggestions for a light, form fitting shoe (for a girl)?

  5. Track is next MAY OR JUNE, so I have a LOT of time. I can do the events in the middle of the line of 'sprint and long distance'. In other words, I can do long distance but not tooo long. How should I train, and for what event? Thanks!
